ROOM 301 - CAFE AND COMMON ROOM | IMPERIAL COLLEGE, LONDON, UK
Designed at Sheppard Robson
Room 301 was one of a number of phased developments of the Royal School of Mines which included the internal and external refurbishment of cross-departmental and public elements of the Grade II listed building. Room 301 was previously occupied by a Café, a Visualisation Suite and a mixture of computer suites and offices. The brief from the college was to create a space which could house a common room, a replacement for the Café and two seminar rooms. This would form an area which could also be used to house functions such as conferences and celebrations. were key drivers of the design. Giant movable partitions provided the flexibility and functionality the college were looking for allowing the users to open and close sections of the room to suit their teaching and conferencing requirements.
