STRATFORD KIOSKS | 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES, STRATFORD, LONDON

In September 2010, The Architecture Foundation announced the shortlist for a competition to design a group of flexible, free standing Kiosks, situated in Meridian Square, Stratford, London, which will serve as key venues for information, orientation and services for use before, during and after the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The founders of JUB studio (London) and hus studio combined forces to create a snaking form that wraps around the site. Each module defines an individual kiosk as well as defining the route through the site during the Olympics.

The team has built on the twin axes of flexibility implicit in the competition brief change in function: development through time with a design that uses non-customised components in an exerted series of modules. In one phase of the structure’s existence they enclose space. In another, they define it.
